Frederiksborg Slot Denmark

broken image

Frederiksborg Castle has housed The Museum of National History since 1878. The Museum of National History was founded by brewer J. Jacobsen, the founder of Carlsberg, and is run as an independent department of the Carlsberg Foundation. Denmark is a country full of castles with rich royal histories, and you'll visit three of the best on this day tour of North Zealand. Visit Frederiksborg Castle, Fredensborg Palace, and Kronborg Castle, each with fascinating histories and beautiful interiors and grounds. Frederiksborg Slot or ‘Frederiksborg Castle' in Northwest Zealand, Denmark, was originally built in 1560 by Frederik II and expanded by Christian IV. Following a fire in 1859, which ravaged much of the castle, Frederiksborg Slot was restored and now serves in large part as Denmark's National History Museum.

Frederiksborg Castle Denmark

Located on the three small islets in the castle lake in Hillerød, Frederiksborg Castle is a 16th century castle. Built by Christian 4, this castle has many impressive rooms and halls. A few highlights of this palace include: The Marble, a richly decorated gallery; Castle Church, an original Renaissance church; The King's Bed Chamber; The knights' hall; and the The Neptune Runwater, a fountain. One of the most important attractions here is the castle garden. This baroque garden is inspired by the romantic English-inspired garden. There are many small lakes and bushes located inside this garden that gives it its romantic vibe. This castle is open to public all year round and also has a gift shop where you can buy historical souvenirs, books and catalogs.

Frederiksborg Slot is not one of the most important things to do in Copenhagen like Church Of Our Saviour, Davids Samling, Grundtvigs Kirken, Copenhagen Opera House and Assistens Cemetery.

Insider tips and expert guides will make sure you enjoy the city to its fullest. You can do so by booking any of the Copenhagen tours.
